DUI Process
The DUI Process
If you have been arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) of drugs, alcohol or both, everything will seem like just one long step. The DUI process, on the other hand, is made up of several steps. If you were truly drunk during the process, it may all seem like a blur. Here are the steps and their explanations:
DUI and Your Rights
You have been arrested because a probable cause has been found. You are rightly or wrongly suspected of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, drugs, or both. This does not mean that you can just submit yourself to whatever penalties are to be given to you. You should hire an attorney specializing in DUI cases. If you are innocent of the charge, all the more reason you should hire an attorney who can best represent you and familiarize you with your rights.
DUI Arrest
A DUI arrest is part of the whole driving under the influence (DUI) process. It happens right after you have been pulled over to take sobriety tests. Even if your blood alcohol content (BAC) is below the limit, erratic driving and lack of physical coordination can still bring about your arrest. The officer who has asked you to pull over can only arrest you with the presence of probable cause. If you are clearheaded but driving recklessly, you may get off with only a warning and a ticket, provided that you have not caused any damage because of your dangerous driving.
DUI Booking and Bail
Right after you have been arrested for a driving under the influence (DUI) violation, you will go through some important processes in the police precinct. Put simply, you will go through booking and pay a required bail.
DUI Arraignment
DUI or driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is a serious offense. What happens after you are charged with DUI?
